The game: Super Mario World
Year Released: 1990
The character: Yoshi
The range: Founders edition. This very special limited edition run of t-shirts are the final spec from the manufacturer and we are giving our fans the chance to own a piece of Player history. Each tee is the result of almost 7 years of development from scratch being custom made from the bottom up. The founder editions each come with a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist and are instant collectors items. With less than 10 available of each design, and some designs and features never to be repeated in their present form – we wanted our loyal fans who have stuck with us on this journey to own a unique part of the Player history.
The design: Yoshi, the ever hungry and trusty steed on Mario features in this collection as the owner of an all you can eat buffet. Given his appetite this might not be the best venture for him! The main feature is the Yoshi egg that he can lay and use as a projective weapon when swallowed. In the retro Famicom swoosh you have a selection of fruits and other Yoshi favourites. The kanji text reads “Dinner Buffet, YES!” and “Since the year”. Also referenced is Mushroom Kingdom and 1990 the year of his first appearance.
On the back you have the flag of Japan, which is a reference to the games country of origin.
The tee: As with all Player Clothing garments, there is an embroidered neck detail, and hem logo along with being 100% cotton and made with 200 GSM weight fabric to offer you the highest quality. The iconic player logo is included in the garment label – and the founders editions come with a certificate of authenticity from the artist and chief designer Mike.
The country: Japan
The colours: Green with red, black and white detail.
Interesting facts: According to a Nintendo guide written in 1993 Yoshi’s full name is “T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas”. Yoshi appeared in Metal Gear – Twin Snakes as a doll on a desk, and when shot the figure makes the trademark “Yoshi” soundbite.
